I was looking through a report by the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities, and I saw statistics where there was a sudden sharp rise in tourist numbers at Source of the Nile in Jinja. In trying to analyze why there was a sudden rise I realized that during that time, Vumbula Uganda had organized a three-day camping festival dubbed "Sauce of the Nile Festival" that ran from 2nd to 4th June 2023. When you look further, indeed the months before and the months after, the ministry recorded almost flat lines. This means that after the festival, the numbers fell again.

When you look at the statistics above, you are left to wonder what more can be done to keep the graphs higher. The solution is simple; let us support local initiatives like Vumbula Uganda that supplement the government's efforts in positioning Uganda as a top destination for tourists locally and internationally.
